Back in the 80's, we used to go to the Roseway Theater in Portland, Oregon which featured vintage films. For about 30 minutes before the film they would play live organ music. We would know to arrive early for the free tunes.
If I owned a movie theater in Podunk, Nowhere; before and after the main feature film on weekends, I'd play surround sound albums instead of coming attractions. I don't think I'd even advertise it. I'd just start playing the albums and see if people started showing up early. I bet they would.
I'd come out of the blocks with guns a blazin' featuring D.S.O.T.M. and Bitches Brew the first weekend.
